Fed up of summer flies and mosquitoes? Try our top tips for pest control!

Whether it’s a hot or wet British summer, there’s one thing you can be absolutely sure of: the second you open your windows or try to eat outside, the flies and mozzies will find you!

We’ve had our thinking caps on at Home and Garden Gifts and come up with a little list of solutions to all your fly-related problems.

1. Good hygiene in and around your house is an essential starting point, as this limits breeding sites and food sources for flies. Rubbish should be stored in well-sealed containers – even slightly open wheelie bins can become havens for hundreds of industrious flies! Try to avoid using insecticides and fly sprays as they introduce potentially harmful chemicals into your home and are less and less effective as flies become immune to them.

2. One of our newest and most exciting new fly control products is the FliTrap. Instead of using insecticides, the FliTrap is specifically designed to attract and kill all species of flies through the emission of odours that entice them into the trap, from which there is no escape. The product can be hung in a tree or placed on a flat roof or table. FliTrap helps keep garden and patio areas clear of flies by breaking the breeding cycle of flies in the area. 3. The Koolatron bug killer works on the principal that airborne insects are attracted to ultraviolet (UV) light. This is a domestic scale bug killer for general use. 4. As the insect enters the Mini E-Trap tray located at the rear of the trap, it experiences a continuous low voltage pulse, which disables the insect.
