> Home > Garden > Log Cabins and Homes

Log Cabins are a brilliant alternative to an expensive bricks and mortar extension to your home, while still making the most of the space that you have. They can be any size and shape, and suitable for more or less any purpose! Whether you want some extra space to indulge in your hobbies, a home gym, an entertaining space, an office, an additional space for relaxation, or just about anything else, there is a log cabin solution for you.

The quality of all of our log cabins is first rate as they have been selected for their durability and design so that they’re easy to build and last. Some of our larger cabins are also suitable as a clubhouse, or commercial building, subject to planning regulations.

If you have a very specific idea for the design, size and shape of your cabin, garage, wooden home, or office, try our Bespoke log cabin design service. Just give us a call, email or use the enquiry form, stating your requirements and one of our lovely customer service team will contact you to discuss arranging a quote. Our Bespoke structures are made from slow-grown timber between 45mm and 120mm thick and can include felt roof shingles, flooring, and double glazing.

With cabins from manufacturers as diverse as Finnforest, Eurovudas, Weka, Grange Fencing, Rural Leisure, Home and Garden, and Shire, you can be certain that we have your dream log cabin!

Product Categories

Thick walled log cabins are ideal for home offices, and have a wealth of possible upgrades available including double glazing, roof and floor insulation and pre-drilled options for concealed electric wiring (please see below for more information).

We recommend that you contact us via phone, email or via the enquiry form to discuss your requirements in order to ensure that you are getting exactly what you want from your log cabin. For starters, why not have a look at our summary of the Practical Aspects of owning a log cabin, alongside the information below on how to choose the right cabin for the purpose you have in mind.

Why choose a log cabin?

Whatever you want to use your log cabin for, there are certain things you should take into consideration regarding its design and specification. For example, if you plan to spend a lot of time in your cabin throughout the year, it may be economical to opt for walls at least 45mm thick, double glazed windows and doors, and roof insulation.

To help you out, we’ve summarised some of the most popular uses for you below:

Business use

Office log cabinyour cabin needs to be sturdy and sufficiently weatherproof to ensure that you are comfortable when working, and your office equipment is secure when not in use. Obviously if you are the only person who makes use of the office space, the building does not need to be huge. Equally, if you plan to use the cabin for something else as well, such as entertainment space, it helps to have planned exactly how you will use the space and how much space you will need. A table with 4 or 6 chairs takes up more space than you might think when there are people sat around it, and someone is trying to serve them!

Heating will also be an important issue. Oil filled radiators would be more appropriate for an office in regular use, as opposed to an electric fan or convector heater that would be more fitting for a room in infrequent use. Recommended suppliers: Home and Garden Cabins, Weka and Eurovudas.

Log cabin Studiosimilar rules to those for the office apply to the studio, however storage of materials/finished work may well be important, so it might be worth going for a building with two separate rooms.Recommended suppliers: Home and Garden Cabins, Weka and Eurovudas.

Consulting Room cabinwith an ever-increasing number of people working from home, a log cabin could make the perfect consulting room (for physiotherapy, hair salon etc.). It might be worth going for insulation and double glazed windows and doors to give extra warmth and comfort to your patients and customers. We have hundreds of cabin designs available, but if you can’t find precisely the layout you want, we have a bespoke log cabin design service which allows you to order a custom made cabin according to your specification. Recommended suppliers: Home and Garden Cabins, Weka and Eurovudas.

Workshop log cabin practicality has to be foremost in mind when planning your workshop. You may well need to be able to transport large items in and out of your workshop, so double doors could be extremely useful, as well as a covered porch area for shelter when working outside. If you are using expensive tools, security features would also be an important consideration. Recommended suppliers: Home and Garden Cabins and Weka.

Domestic use

Log cabin Guest bedroom this is a massively popular option with families of all sizes who like to have friends and extended family to stay but don’t have the room inside the house. Consider the cost and upheaval of having a loft conversion or a brick extension and then think about the speed and relatively cheap cost of having a log cabin guest room. Whether you just literally want an extra room or more of a granny annex, any shape and design is possible, and may not even be subject to planning permission if it is not being used for accommodation purposes full time. The cabin would obviously need to be double glazed and insulated in the same way as the office, but the rest of the design is up to you! Recommended suppliers: Home and Garden Cabins, Rural Leisure and Eurovudas.

Entertaining space cabin the size of your entertaining space clearly depends on how many people you anticipate on entertaining and what form the entertainment takes. If you want a space for teenagers to entertain their friends away from your living room, the space required might well be smaller than a space designated for dinner parties or your very own dance floor! You could also consider furniture to provide a focal point such as a fireplace or sideboard. A decorative coal or wood burner would be particularly luxurious during the winter, while a gas fire supplied by a cylinder, or an electric fire would suffice if you’re on a tight budget.

To determine what size cabin you need, you could simulate the space using the furniture you plan to have in the room and figure out how much space around the furniture you will need (a table with 4 or 6 chairs really does take up more space than you might think!) Recommended suppliers: Home and Garden Cabins, Rural Leisure and Eurovudas.
